A quiet fisherman who heard Jesus say “Come and see” — and brought his brother along.
Before anyone called him “Saint,” Andrew was just a kind man who loved the sea. He worked as a fisherman with his brother Simon. He was gentle, steady, and quiet. He listened more than he spoke, and he wondered about God.
One day, John the Baptist pointed across the road and said: “Look! There He is — the Lamb of God!” Andrew turned and saw Jesus walking by. He began to follow — not close enough to talk, just close enough to wonder. Jesus turned and smiled. “What are you looking for?” Andrew answered quietly, “Where are you staying?” And Jesus said something simple and full of love: “Come and see.”
So Andrew went, and stayed the whole day. He didn’t understand everything — but he felt peace just being near Jesus. The very next thing Andrew did? He ran home to find his brother. “Simon! We’ve found Him!” He brought Simon to Jesus.
Later, when thousands of people were hungry, Andrew found one little boy with five loaves and two fish. It didn’t seem like enough — but he brought the boy to Jesus anyway. Jesus blessed the small gift, and it was enough for everyone.
Andrew didn’t preach to crowds. He didn’t write letters. But he noticed people. He brought people. He quietly shared what he had. And that was enough.
Thought for the heart. Sometimes the quietest ones bring the biggest light.
A child’s prayer. Dear Saint Andrew, thank you for your gentle heart. Help me bring others to Jesus too — by sharing, by helping, or just by being kind. Remind me that even small gifts can be used in big ways. Amen.
